Getting Started with Dubby
Learn how to set up your Dubby, connect audio, load your first algorithm, and start processing sound in minutes. A complete beginner's guide.
What's in the Box
Your Dubby ships with the main unit, a USB-C cable for power and firmware updates, and a quickstart card. If you ordered additional side panels - like the Dual Slider, the CV Expansion, or the Footswitch Expression - they screw in easily with two hex screws to either side of the unit. The panels are mirrored, so you can mount them on whichever side you prefer.
Powering Up
Power Dubby via USB-C or with the dedicated 9V barrel connector power supply (sold separately). If you want to connect external gear like MIDI controllers to Dubby's USB-C port, you'll need the barrel connector for power - freeing up USB-C for data. The screen lights up immediately, and you'll see the algorithm browser.
Connecting Audio
Dubby is fully quadraphonic. It has four audio inputs and four audio outputs. For each input and output, the audio channels are spread across two 1/4" TRS jacks (two jacks per input and two jacks per output) - each jack is stereo and carries two audio channels (like a headphone output). Connect your audio sources to the input jacks and route the outputs to your amp, mixer, or audio interface. There's also a routable headphone amp on the front panel - it can mirror any of Dubby's four outputs for dedicated monitoring with independent volume control.
Loading Your First Algorithm
Because Dubby runs algorithms, it can be almost anything - a reverb, a delay, a filter, a compressor, a synthesizer, a sampler, or something entirely new. Dubby comes preloaded with a curated set of algorithms. Use the encoder to scroll through the browser and press to select. Start with King Dubby Delay - it's a dub-style delay with feedback and filter control. Turn the knobs and hear the parameters change in real time.

Algorithms are dumped from your profile on Dubby.Studio to Dubby's SD card, so everything runs fully offline.
